| Dear IGU Transport and Geography Commission members, As the IRC 2026 Istanbul conference approaches, we look forward to welcoming many of you in person. In addition to the regular oral and poster sessions, our Commission is pleased to organize two supplementary activities during the conference. IGU Transport and Geography Commission Business Meeting This session will provide updates on Commission activities, travel grant awards, and other business matters. –Date: 18 August 2026 –Time: 16:45 – 17:45 –Venue: Faculty Board Meeting Room Following the meeting, we plan to gather for an informal social activity at a nearby bar. Further details will be shared as soon as arrangements are confirmed. 2. Urban Transport Fieldtrip Organized by Professor Ela Babalik (Middle East Technical University), this fieldtrip offers an in-depth exploration of Istanbul’s urban mobility landscape. –Date: 19 August 2026 –Time: 13:00 – 18:00 Programme Outline: –13:00 – 14:00: Introductory session with presentations on overall urban mobility issues in Turkey and Istanbul, followed by a briefing from the Transportation Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (venue: Faculty Board Meeting Room). –14:00 – 18:00: Outdoor activities, including journeys on various urban transit systems (metros, trams, bus rapid transit, and ferries), complemented by short walking tours to discuss physical integration and pedestrianisation. Important Notes for Participants -The introductory session is open to all interested attendees. -Due to logistical constraints, places for the outdoor activities are limited to 20 participants. -Participants are expected to cover their own travel costs (approximately €10).
